Juan de Lara appointed as the new Arts Programme Manager

11 June 2018

Asia House is pleased to announce the appointment of Juan de Lara as Arts Programme Manager.

Juan has a broad background within business and the arts that spans digital technology, visual arts, marketing and development. Prior to joining Asia House, Juan’s main area of focus was project management. This included working on the renowned Pavilion of Humanity in the 57th International Art Exhibition of The Venice Biennale (2017) which aimed to stimulate new debates around physical and psychological frontiers between artists from the Middle East. Juan has also previously worked at Ogilvy & Mather and he spent three years as Operations Manager and Head of Development at Parasol Unit.

At Asia House, Juan will be responsible for developing a range of cross-disciplinary arts and learning programmes. The focus will be on building and engaging audiences through new thinking on how to look at Asia’s historical and cultural development by encouraging dialogue aimed at finding common ground in thought and cultural syncretism.

On his appointment, Juan said: “I am delighted to bring my experience and network to Asia House, taking the arts and learning programme to the next level. Our chief priority will be to provide a platform for cross- cultural understanding and act as a creative, vibrant hub for engaging with the arts through talks, workshops and events along with strong partnerships, supporters and patrons.”

The Head of Arts and Learning, Pamela Kember, said: “We are extremely fortunate to have Juan join us at this exciting stage for our arts and learning programme and to be able to benefit from both his corporate and arts background as well as his long-standing passion and commitment to Asian arts and culture. We look forward to him developing new initiatives and projects that will advance our goals and ambitions to have a greater impact and expand our interests in the arts of Eurasia and the Middle East.”
