In conversation with Joseph Tawadros

In conversation with Joseph Tawadros
27 February 2019
Joseph Tawadros is a world-renowned player and composer of the oud – the ancient Middle Eastern lute. He has performed in Australia and Japan with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the BBC Proms Dubai. He also performed a solo oud recital with original music for the BBC Proms at London’s Cadogan Hall, making him the first music artist to present a solo concert of original contemporary music for the Proms.
Now, the oud virtuoso is set to join us at Asia House on 19 March for an unforgettable evening where traditional Arabic music meets jazz and classical music. Ahead of his solo concert, Tawadros sat down with Asia House Arts Programme Manager, Juan de Lara, to discuss his love for music – and how he started his journey as an oud player.
