To mark the visit of the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar to the UK, and in collaboration with the Embassy of Mongolia in London, Asia House is pleased to present Nomadic Expression, the only traditional Mongolian band based in the UK. Nomadic Expression will take to the stage at Asia House to perform a combination of traditional Mongolian Steppe music with beautiful overtone hoomii throat singing and the morin khuur (the distinct horse-headed fiddle.) Nomadic Expression performs a particular form of Steppe melody which is still practised in Mongolia and reflects life in the grasslands. For this performance, they will create a repertoire of melodies, singing and dance.
Nomadic Expression consist of D.Tserenbat (Bataa); N.Bat-Erdene (Baagii), a throat singer and horse-head fiddle player; M.Munkhzorigt (Zorigo), a traditional dancer and goat-head fiddle player; and S.Nyamdavaa (Nyama), a contemporary composer, flute and horse-head fiddle player.
