Closing Night Special: A Passage Across India

Moving from Mysore, once a princely state in South India, to cities in the North, via slums, ashrams, Bollywood studios and exclusive clubs, we close our literature festival with a fantastic evening celebrating all things India.

Taking to the stage to discuss his two recent, critically-acclaimed books will be Mahesh Rao, one of the most exciting authors to come out of India today. Rao will illuminate the exhilarating diversity of the world’s second largest nation in a fascinating conversation with Sameer Rahim, Literary Editor of Prospect magazine, who are our official media partners. Check out the offer we have below.

As this is our special closing night, following the talk we are treating guests to a thillana – an exuberant, rhythmic dance composition performed at the end of a classical Bharatanatyam performance. Here the dancer breaks out into various sculptured poses and vibrant footwork. A predominantly rhythmic composition, thillana is a dance of joy and dynamism. It will be performed by Shoba Haridas, disciple of Usha Raghavan, Director at Kalasagara UK.

Finally, enjoy a glass of wine and mouth-watering Indian canapés courtesy of celebrated chef Paul Bloomfield. The perfect end to a perfect fortnight.
