As part of Asia House’s 20th anniversary activities and to ensure that those who support its Arts and Learning programme receive value for money, Asia House has relaunched its Friends scheme.

The new Asia House Arts Membership (AHAM) scheme, as it is now known, offers every individual member an exclusive 50 per cent discount off ticket prices to all Asia House Arts & Learning events throughout the year, with priority booking available on selected events and invitations to private views.

Upon signing up for the first time, or upon renewing annual membership, Asia House Arts Members will receive a specially designed membership card and tote bag by artist Suki Chan, whose solo exhibition entitled Lucida will be showing at Asia House in the summer of 2017. The Arts and Learning programme will further commission more artists to create exciting new designer cards and bags throughout the year.

Talks and debates on the arts of Asia will also be a great way to meet an array of special guest speakers during 2017. In the upcoming New Year programme, there will be a series of live events, including, music, comedy and dance, as well as a screening of some extraordinary films, including The Man who Built Cambodia – a fascinating documentary on the work of the influential Cambodian architect Van Molyvann to be shown in February; and a screening in the summer on the life of artist George Chinnery whose blockbuster exhibition in 2012 at Asia House drew an enthusiastic crowd.

On 18 January, Asia House will host an exclusive event with Dr Li Xu, a leading archaeologist and expert on the excavation and survey of China’s Terracotta Amy to discuss the recent debate around the hypothesis that the clay figures were, in some way, influenced by Ancient Greek sculptures.

There will be some cool fusion music reverberating through the rooms, on the evening of the 26 January with sounds by Karaj Collective showcasing a repertoire of jazz, blues, influenced by Kurdish, Azeri, Afghani and Armenian folk music.

Karaj Collective will perform at Asia House on 26 January to launch the 2017 Asia House arts and learning programme. This event is just one example of the many exciting arts and cultural events that have been programmed over the coming months to coincide with the launch of the new Asia House Arts Membership scheme
