Asia House announces its 6th annual Pan-Asia Film Festival

Asia House is excited to announce that its sixth annual Asia House Pan-Asia Film Festival will take place from 26 February to 9 March 2014, supported by Prudential plc.
The Festival’s Artistic Director Alison Poltock and Programmer Andrew Simpson have recently returned from the Tokyo International Film Festival, where they secured a range of films for the Festival and enjoyed the culture of Japan.
Set to receive its greatest level of visibility and support to date, the Festival, which is now in its sixth year, is being sponsored by Prudential for the fourth year running.
Pamela Kember and Mariam Neza from the Asia House Arts and Learning team are working closely with Poltock, Simpson and Festival Producer Isma Arif – all from the East End Film Festival – who are delivering the festival for the second successive year.
The Pan-Asia Film Festival aims to premiere dynamic and challenging cinema from all over Asia – from Iran to South Korea and from Burma to Japan – in the UK.
It specialises in representing the changing cultural landscape of Asia through a line-up of approximately 20 films and aims to showcase the most vibrant artistic voices from across the region.
The 2014 Festival takes place at venues across London and in Brighton, Leeds and Glasgow over the course of ten days, in a major celebration of Asian cinema.
To date the Festival has previewed and premiered Hero, Norwegian Wood, The Reluctant Fundamentalist and Outrage Beyond, whilst past festival guests include Gurinder Chadha, Ken Loach, Riz Ahmed, Zhang Yimou, Rinko Kikuchi and Tran Anh Hung.
Growing year on year, it boasts sell-out audiences and has received extensive press coverage in film and culture magazines such as Sight & Sound magazine, The New Statesman and in national newspapers.
Festival venues include the BFI, Cine Lumiere, Cineworld Haymarket, the ICA and Picturehouse Cinemas.
