Providing opportunities to learn through experience for all ages
Providing opportunities to learn through experience for all ages
While many of our events – lectures and debates – are educational in nature, we also present more creative learning opportunities for local community youth groups and beyond to meet creative practitioners across all art forms. We encourage activities that are participatory in nature, and work alongside visiting artists and educationalists to expand visitors’ understanding of Asia cultures and Asian languages in particular.
We also work in close collaboration with a number of partners and educational institutions to offer a series of courses and workshops to extend beyond our in-house activities, to give talks, and presentations about Asia House, and its mission to promote Asian languages in UK schools, nationally. This has included: Persian calligraphy – Chinese brush painting – Understanding Ottoman arts – Kathak dance –Tibetan ritual art.
Through our youth engagement programmes, we work with youngsters to build their confidence, skills and enable greater understanding of Asian cultures and countries through play and learning. The Asia House Bagri Foundation Literature Festival has developed a strong education strand, aimed at young people to help develop their writing skills and expand their understanding of Asia. For young children, the festival runs family days and library outreach programmes, and schools workshops and a writing prize for 14-18 year olds.
Asia House exhibitions regularly include opportunities for schools to visit and hold workshops as well as the chance to meet artists-in-residence, and discuss their work and practice.

Asia House can devise training immersion workshops, which are particularly helpful if your company or organisation is working or considering working in Asia to better understand cultural differences etiquette and hospitality.
