Come and hear some of the most esteemed and inspirational poets of today read their work in Sounds of Asia. Pakistan-born British poet Imtiaz Dharker will read from her new collection Over the Moon for which she was awarded The Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry 2014 (becoming the first British Asian poet to win this prestigious award). Over the Moon includes poems of joy and sadness, of mourning and celebration. Leeds-born Vidyan Ravinthiran, whose parents are Sri Lankan, will select poems from Grun-tu-molani, his debut of beautiful and captivating poetry inspired by his Sri Lankan roots. Writer and critic and Cambridge academic Preti Taneja will chair the event and take listeners through the depths of the poems selected – what they mean and how they came to write them. An engaging event for those who love poetry or simply love being lost in words.
