Join poet, novelist and migrant rights advocate Ruth Valentine and writer, journalist and broadcaster Kamin Mohammadi for a discussion about Valentine’s new poetry chapbook, Rubaiyat for the Martyrs of Two Wars. Mohammadi, who specialises in Iran, wrote the book’s introduction.

The book focuses on notions of martyrdom in two communities: the young Iranian soldiers who gave up their lives in the Iran – Iraq War, and the young black men who became victims of London gang conflicts. The talk will be followed by a book signing.

A Rubaiyat is a traditional Persian verse form consisting of a collection of quatrains, typically rhyming AABA.
