The Asia House Gallery is hosting a Chinese calligraphy exhibition, featuring one of the most prominent calligraphers today, Yun Ping. It is being held from from Monday 12 May to Sunday, 18 May 2014.
The free exhibition presents a selection of the finest works of the multi-award winning Chinese artist in London for the first time.
A private viewing takes place on Tuesday 13 May at 18.30 when invited guests have the opportunity to meet and interact with Yun Ping.
About Yun Ping
Yun Ping is a former curator of Zhengzhou Art Museum and director of Zhengzhou Painting Academy. He is also the director of the Chinese Calligraphers Association. During is career he has received more than 20 awards, including the first prize at the Zhongyuan Calligraphy Competition.
Yun Ping’s works have been displayed all over the world, including the United States, Britain, Italy, Germany, New Zealand, Mauritius, Egypt, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China.
Some of Yun Ping’s works have been collected by museums and cultural institutions such as the British Museum, Zhongnanhai, Jilin Provincial Museum, Henan Provincial Museum and the China Culture Center in Mauritius.
He is proficient both in running hand and regular script. His other prizes include the highest National Award at the Fifth National Calligraphy and Seal-cutting Competition for his works in running hand and the first place at the 2nd National Regular Award-winning Works Exhibition for his works in regular script.
The exhibition takes place from Monday, 12 May to Sunday 18, May at the Asia House Gallery from 10.00 to 18.00 each day.
